Scope Order Sprint
Seven steps take a flexible endoscope from the bedside to the storage cabinet. They are sitting in front of you, completely shuffled. Tap them in the correct reprocessing order. Every wrong tap comes with warm coaching and a memory anchor, so the exam's favorite sequencing trap becomes free points.
How to play
Tap the step tiles below in the correct order, starting at the bedside and ending at the storage cabinet. Correct picks lock into the sequence lane above. Wrong picks cost you a mistake and unlock a coaching note.
Endoscope reprocessing questions the exam keeps asking
What is the first step of flexible endoscope reprocessing?
Pre-cleaning at the point of use. The insertion tube is wiped and the channels are flushed immediately after the procedure, before bioburden has time to dry.
When is the leak test performed on a flexible endoscope?
After pre-cleaning and before manual cleaning. The scope is pressurized and submerged, and a steady stream of bubbles means a leak. A leaking scope goes to repair, never into the cleaning sink.
Why are endoscope channels brushed below the fluid surface?
To keep from aerosolizing contaminants into the air of the decontamination area. Brushing under the fluid surface protects the tech and keeps soil in the sink where it belongs.
What water is used to rinse an endoscope after high-level disinfection?
Sterile or filtered water. The rinse exists to remove high-level disinfectant residue from every channel, because leftover chemistry can injure the next patient.
How is a flexible endoscope dried after reprocessing?
Flush every channel with 70 to 90 percent alcohol, then blow forced air through the channels. A damp scope grows biofilm, so drying is a safety step, not a finishing touch.
How are flexible endoscopes stored?
Hung vertically in a clean, ventilated cabinet. They are never coiled in a transport case for storage, because coiling traps moisture and invites biofilm.
